File:BR arrows.png[edit]

Not necessarily PD, because according to some off wiki investigations this is still nominally copyright in the UK (labiet one held by the Department of Transport). Would vote for deletion unless someone can get the UK govt dept to issue an OTRS confirming it as OGL at the very least ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 19:40, 19 May 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Keep Would of course disagree: it's clearly marked with PD-shape. This logo is permitted under Commons policy Commons:Threshold of originality and Commmons is an international platform. You would need to get consensus on changing commons policy first before moving to delete permitted images. (If PD-shape is somehow no longer a valid rationale, you're going to have your work cut out deleting every other logo of this type on Commons!) Cnbrb (talk) 11:23, 22 May 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
On the linked page COM:TOO, it says that w:File:EDGE magazine (logo).svg is unacceptable on Commons because a British court has ruled that the logo is too complex. Why do you think that this logo is less complex than that logo? --Stefan2 (talk) 12:52, 24 May 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The new BR corporate identity and Double Arrow were rolled out in 1965, and the brand name of the organisation was truncated to "British Rail".
Assuming that Wikipedia is correct, this makes the logo {{PD-UKGov}}, provided that this is a government work. However, I note that the nominator has questioned whether works by British Rail count as government works, see Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:'Ferret and dartboard' crest. --Stefan2 (talk) 12:52, 24 May 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That's indeed correct, the post 1961(?) British Rail wasn't a govt dept, It was "Statutory Corporation" thusly it can't automatically be assumed Crown Copyright (and thus OGL) applied. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 12:55, 24 May 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Deleted: Clearly above the very low UK ToO. Not a work of the UK government. Therefore, still under copyright. If and when the govt responds, this can be restored. .     Jim . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 10:46, 26 May 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
