York Railway STATION

York Railway Station was the largest in the world when it opened in 1877. Constructed by the North Eastern Railway, it's on the East Coast Main Line. Currently, the York station remains a crucial junction between London and Edinburgh. It provides services of several train operators: London North Eastern Railway, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, TransPennine Express, Grand Central, and Northern Trains.

What's more, the old yet beautiful York Station was one of only ten awarded five stars in Britain's 100 Best Railway Stations by Simon Jenkins.

HOW TO GET TO YORK RAILWAY STATION?

Surrounded by tourist attractions, York Rail Station is situated near the center of the city and it can be reached in various ways.

• BUS: you can take any of these busses from/to the York center: 36, 37, 747, 840 and 843 Coastliners, and many others.

• TAXI: taking a taxi is always the most time-saving and pleasant way to get to or from the railway station.  Look for a taxi on a rank.

• ​WALK: if you are eager to take a walk along York's streets on your way to the station, it will take about 10 minutes from the Yorkshire Museum.

Welcome to the modern LNER train that you can board on the York railway station, which is situated approximately halfway between London and Edinburgh. The York station is set on the East Coast Main Line and serves cities of York, North Yorkshire and England. The station is located on the main line between Doncaster and Thirsk and is 188 miles north of London King's Cross. From June 2018, the York railway station is operated by London Northern Eastern Railway (LNER).
